Helpline
A free service provided by our friendly volunteers to anyone seeking assistance in Japanese. The service is strictly confidential. Please contact our exclusive helpline email at sodan@jacarefund.org
- Assistance for everyday issues such as family, legal, etc.
- Provide information regarding Japanese speaking professionals such as lawyers, physicians, translator/interpreters, social workers, etc.
Care Calls
The Care Call program is intended to connect Japanese speaking seniors living in the Capital area to Japanese speakers. If you have no Japanese speaking family members or friends, are unable to visit someone to socialize, or simply want to chat with Japanese speakers, please participate in this program. You will enjoy conversation and socialization over the phone.
We are looking forward to having new participants and new volunteers. Please contact the VA office carefund@jacarefund.org if you are interested in this program.
Support Group
Grief support for those who have experienced loss.

Cultural & Fitness Classes (in-person)
To maintain Japanese culture and diversify the community’s interest, the Care Fund offers various cultural classes on Japanese Calligraphy, Japanese Flower Arrangement, Sumie (Japanese Ink Drawing), etc.
Traditional Japanese Exercise called “Jikyojutsu” is offered year-round to help individuals and the community to develop healthy and active lifestyles. The group exercise classes provide a safe and fun environment for individuals of all ages to get fit and energized.
In Fall 2021, new classes of Karate and Recitation have launched.
Senior Wellness Program (online and in-person)
As our program values "speaking aloud", we have a discussion centering on a theme during our program. Activities include light exercise, brain training, nostalgic music, etc. The program is held in Japanese.

Keiai no Tsudoi - Annual luncheon for seniors (Currently Keiai package)
The Care Fund celebrates this Japanese holiday, a day dedicated to honor elderly citizens, with a Senior’s Luncheon. To show respect, love, and support, we invite seniors living in the greater Washington area to enjoy a bento lunch, entertaining and performances. (In-person attendance postponed, instead sending packages to seniors.)
Care Fund Friday (online)
For those who live in DC metropolitan area, we host a forum to exchange various useful and/or local information. The forum is held on the 1st Friday of the month (7:00 pm - 8:30 pm) in Japanese.
