Japanese Libraries

Under Covid-19 restrictions, opening hours and activities at our libraries vary. Please contact JACF office for the current conditions.

The library started with about 700 books donated by Yoko Wiles. Our library is supported by Japan Commerce Association of Washington, D.C.  Free lending service of more than 12,000 Japanese books.  We have many children’s picture books, manga, weekly or monthly- magazines and DVDs.

Library volunteers are always welcome.  Please visit our libraries!

VA Library (Yoko Wiles Library)

Hours:    11:00am-2:00p  (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays — Holidays are closed)

MD Library

Hours:     11:00am – 2:00pm (Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays -Holidays are closed)

12:00pm – 4:00 pm  (2nd Sunday only)

[ Inclement Weather Policy ]

VA Library: Follows the closing or delay schedule issued by Fairfax County Public Schools.

MD Library: Will be closed for the entire day whenever Montgomery County Public Schools call for either a delay or closing due to bad weather.

Japanese Story Time
This program offers children age 5 and younger to read books, sing songs and play games in Japanese. No need to register just show up!

MD Library
1st & 3rd Wednesday : 1:30 pm -  2:00 pm
We accept used Japanese books (novels and children's) that are in good condition. Donations may be added to our library collection or sold in the libraries, at Sakura Matsuri or fundraising events. You may take your donations to our libraries during operating hours. We will accept your donations and provide you with a donation receipt.
